Former archaeologist, current web explorer, aspiring writer.
I have many conflicting interests, so they are categorized for your pleasure.
Oh, yes, and there's now my blog.
I research, and write about, the History of Liverpool.
Historic Liverpool has maps and articles on the growth of Liverpool, from a marsh on the banks of the Mersey, and a collection of villages, through to the conurbation of today.
Liverpool Landscapes is a blog about the continuing history and changes in Liverpool.
You should really subscribe.
I make no bones about the fact that I'm a geek. I like computers, I like building stuff, and I write Science Fiction.
When I'm in polite company (or I'm trying to impress), I call it Speculative Fiction.
I'm also a self-proclaimed expert in the fields of SEO, Writing for the Web, Web Analytics and Usability.
I use and support a lot of free software, including Linux, Firefox and OpenOffice.org. It underlies Historic Liverpool, and I use it for all except specific programs.
I also use free data. Some of this is more free than others, but I make sure everything I write has the greatest chance of being readable for as long as possible.
